What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is simply a small titanium screw which is placed into the superior or inferior jawbone forming what will be a new tooth root. Once the new root, in other words a dental implant, has been perfectly integrated into the bone, a corresponding crown or a fixed bridge will be placed so that we have new stable, functional, and safe teeth in their correct place and forever.

What are the dental implants for?

They are a substitute of the natural teeth that return stability, functionality and appearance of the teeth. Through a small titanium screw the implants are placed into the bone according to the determined and personalized structure.

A dental implant is created to substitute one or more teeth so they form and function just like the missing teeth. You will be able to enjoy your teeth just as when you had all of them naturally; reliably and safely. Your new teeth will not move and you will feel safe when eating or speaking. There is no better solution than dental implants. Since the implants are placed with local anesthesia, you will not feel either pain or discomfort. Besides we use minimally invasive techniques, with which often there is no need to open the gum and therefore there is no need for suturing.

The treatment step by step

First step: Studying and planning

We design a personalized plan of each dental implant treatment

Implantes paso 1

Studying and planning

We make the x-rays, 3D tomographic studes, and models of your mouth in our dental room. After that we determine the number and location of the implants suitable for your individual case.

Second step: Collocation of the implants

We place implants with the help of the guided surgery technique that through computer study of your mouth allows us to place the new teeth barely opening the gum which decreases the inflammation and eliminate pain after the intervention.

Implantes paso 2

Collocation of the implants

The healing period (to let the implants integrate to the bone) varies for each person. In some cases several weeks are enough, while in others 2 or 3 months are needed. However during this period you will have a temporary crown or bridge, so you will always have teeth.

Third step: Fabrication of the permanent teeth

Two months later and when the implants have integrated into the bone, and the healing period has passed, a post (abutment) will be connected on each dental implant. This abutment is a connector between the implant and the crown that fixes the tooth in a stable way.

Fabrication of the permanent teeth

Once the abutments are collocated, a new impression will be taken for a correct fabrication of the crown to be fixed on the abutment. Special attention is paid to the shape and color of the crown so that it looks like a totally natural tooth.

Fourth step: Collocation of the permanent teeth

Once the permanent teeth are ready, we simply place and fix them on the abutments

And that’s it! Generally we review the correct fixation and functionality of the implants in the next visit.

In our dental clinics we perform several steps to achieve successful dental implantology treatments:

What can I do not to feel anything either before, during or after the collocation of the implants?

Frequently asked questions about dental implants

Is implant treatment painful?

Since the implants are placed with local anesthesia, you will not feel any pain or discomfort. Besides with the minimally invasive technique we use, there is often no need in opening the gum and therefore no need for suturing.

Will I feel the teeth like my own ones?

In fact the implants are fixed to the jaw so they act like natural teeth when you chew, speak or laugh. You will not notice any difference between your natural teeth and the new ones.

How safe is a dental implant?

Clinical investigations based on 40 years of experience show very positive long-term results of dental implant system, especially in comparison with the traditional treatments.

Is age important?

The age is not vitally important, health is what matters. For patients over 70 years old or those who use artificial denture there are fantastic solutions so that the prosthesis no longer moves. This way you can stop using those uncomfortable adhesives and annoying gels.

Will I have to be without teeth during the dental implant treatment?

Not at all. You will always have some kind of a provisional prosthesis or a crown that will be placed during the same visit so that you never will be without teeth.

What care do the implants need?

The maintenance of the implants is similar to the maintenance of the rest of the teeth. A proper normal dental hygiene every day and routine checkups by your dentist once a year are necessary.

Can a dental implant be placed if there is not enough bone?

Yes, it can. Patients with insufficient bone or severely atrophic maxilla can be rehabilitated routinely with dental prosthesis fixed on the zygomatic implants. This less invasive technique avoids complications and reduces the possibility of diseases, without donated areas. The treatment time is reduced and the patient will not have to suffer large periods without using teeth.

Will the new teeth look like my own ones?

The difference is imperceptible. Normally you have to be a dentist to notice the difference. The implants look, feel and function the way your own teeth do.

What is an immediate dental implant?

20 years ago it took us as much as 10 months to recover the missing teeth, and unnumbered visits to the dentist were necessary.

Today thanks to our implant system and the latest radio-diagnosis techniques that we develop in the Grup Doctor Bladé, we have reduced the impact of the treatment that up to now traditional implants supposed to have. Thus from the very first session the patient leaves the dental clinic with fixed teeth.

Besides it is important to clarify that the SURGERY is MINIMALLY INVASIVE AND PAINLESS.

Advantages:

  • Fast and effective: In just a single session the implants are inserted in a simple, predictable, fast and minimally invasive way. All this thanks to the latest techniques in 3D virtual planning, CAD/CAM technology and the quality and guarantee of the implants we use.
  • Guaranteed results: You will leave our dental clinic with permanent teeth that feel and look like natural ones. You will no longer need either prosthesis or adhesives to eat.
  • Reduced stress and fear of dentists: If you wish you can benefit from new dental sedation techniques with the SEDENTIST PROGRAM. The best way of collocation.

The digital implantology or dental implant surgery guided by computer is one of the latest achievements in dentistry. The application of the digital technology for the diagnosis and implant treatment shows us a three-dimensional model of the patient’s mouth and bone, plan solutions and avoid surgical implications at the moment of intervention.
