Metal-free zirconia copings and crowns for teeth

Dental crowns or copings of Zirconia are the most innovative in aesthetic dentistry since they offer a life-like appearance similar to the one of the natural teeth.

What is Zirconia?

The zirconium oxide (zirconia) is the most advanced material used in metal-free fixed prosthetics dentures, of an extraordinary durability and resistance. This material is considered to be chosen for prosthetic treatments and dental rehabilitation.

The aesthetics of the lab-made ceramic finish on top of the zirconia attains perfection since by contrast with the traditional metal dentures, the light doesn’t face any barriers and is reflected in a completely natural way, which allows the patient obtain white and radiant teeth.

What is a zirconia dental crown?

Dental crowns or copings are a full covering of a tooth that imitates its anatomy. Unlike conventional dental copings they do not have any metal parts visible from outside. All this gives a patient a greater biocompatibility of the prosthesis to be better tolerated by the gum, as well as to avoid the risk of allergies to metals in susceptible individuals.

The use of zirconia dental copings on natural teeth resolves oral aesthetic problems providing with an attractive and natural smile. Being a material of a high resistance; zirconia is at the same time characterized by its biocompatibility with the patient’s gums.

We use the CAD/ CAM technology which via computer system helps us to attain highest standards of aesthetics and quality for our patients in preparation of dental crowns or copings.

Dental crowns, veneers or copings are prosthetic dentures that cover a tooth imitating its anatomy. Among the newest products the zirconia ones are marked for their hardness and resistance, apart from its translucent properties, which can be compared to those of natural white and bright teeth. While their placement allows for the preservation of a tooth which for various reasons maybe at risk of being extracted, before covering the damaged area, the tooth has to be filed down and shortened, that does not happen in case of porcelain veneers, which adhered to the enamel of the unit with no need to sacrifice a tooth.

Zirconia crowns have an advantage of being metal-free. This makes the prosthesis biocompatible with the gum and prevents possible allergies. The placing and the shape of the crowns are developed in a computer system, the CAD/CAM technology, which helps us to attain maximum aesthetic level and quality for teeth.

Porcelain dental veneers

Porcelain veneers allow us to change the color and the shape of teeth barely touching them. There is no need to shorten or file down the tooth (something necessary in case of a dental crown) since the veneers are placed over the front part of the tooth.

The veneers we use are very thin, measuring between 0,3 and 1 mm thick, thus they are adhered to the enamel. With the resin cement there is no need to sacrifice or intervene in the tooth tissues to shorten or mold the tooth. Thus the structure of the tooth remains intact and there is no need for anesthesia.

In case of stained or dark teeth, dental imperfections (such as short or worn-down teeth) and in order to close the spaces or gaps between teeth, the dental veneers are the best option.

What are the porcelain veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells produced with the aid of a dental laboratory. Generally they cover the front side of a tooth. Veneers can be used to whiten teeth as well as to correct such problems as broken, misshapen or malpositioned teeth.

The procedure

During the first visit a thin layer of enamel is carefully removed. Afterwards we take impressions of your teeth. A dental laboratory uses these impressions to make a model of your teeth, then creates porcelain veneers specifically for you according your model.

You will fall in love with your new smile

Once dental veneers are placed, they practically imitate your own teeth. From the moment of its placing you can do everything you would do with your own teeth. Your final result is a new smile, more beautiful and life-like!
